Alle grazie festoso tripudio
di vosi per la natività secondo
Bach
Federico Bardazzi, direttore
attento,
putiglioso, dnamico, ha dimostrato di concepire
l'Oratorio
come straordinario
tradizione
luterana.

In Santa Maria delle Grazie festive rejoicing voices celebrated Bach's
Christmas
Oratorio. Federico Bardazzi, a meticulous, determined and dynamic
conductor
perceives the Oratorio as a unitary organism with its own
expressive and
spiritual development that proceeds in step with the narrative,
flowing
seamlessly over the first three cantatas that make up Bach's
masterpiece.
Bardazzi opened the Oratorio by
colouring the first cantata
with an air of anxious expectancy, which gradually
lead,
in a crescendo of expression, to the concluding
jubilation.
The birth of Christ therefore,
seen not only as a supernatural
mystery, but also as an exceptional historical
event, emphasised
by the martial rhythm of the timpani and the
flashing and
sonorous luminosity of the natural trumpets.
Bardazzi drew marvellous splashes
of colour from the variegated
instrumental palette, like the soft, mellow sound
and pastoral
flavour of the oboes d'amore and oboes da caccia.
The orchestra's performance was
enthralling, and so was
that of the choir who even simulated the
participation of
the congregation, according to the strictest
Lutheran tradition.

Il Festival ha inizio venerdì 7 aprile

Nigra sum sed formosa
Benchè il Prof. Bardazzi e l'Ensemble
San Felice meritano
moltissimi applausi per l'esecuzione vivace e
l'organizzazione
meticoloso all'autentiticità della musica.
storiche abbastanza
convincenti per giustificare queste scelte.

Nigra sum sed formosa
Although Professor Bardazzi and
the Ensemble San Felice
are to be roundly applauded for the exuberant
performances
and skillful organization evident on Nigra sum sed
Formosa,
their most significant achievement is the meticulous
approach
evident with regard to musical authenticity. Since
the original
codex was sketchy concerning precise
instrumentation, great
care was necessary in order to arrive at the most
appropriate
choices for each setting. The CD? liner notes
present
convincing historical evidence to justify these
choices.

corso.
La chiarezza e la semplicità priva di
fronzoli del
canto gregoriano è stata sottolineata dalle voci
chiare
e precise delle cantanti. Leggerezza danzante e
concentrazione

An extremely intense spiritual
delight.
The Ensemble, made up of eleven
musicians gathered round
their founder Federico Bardazzi, performed the
reconstruction
of a 13th century Florentine liturgical drama.
The work was originally part of
the Easter Liturgy described
by the medieval codex housed in the archives of the
Episcopal
See in Florence.
The group first presented the
reconstruction of the liturgical
drama in their German tour, which is still taking
place.
The no frills clarity and
simplicity of the Gregorian
Chant was emphasised by the clear and precise voices
of the
singers.
Flitting lightness alternated with
contemplative concentration,
resulting in an evening of spiritual and musical
pleasure
of great depth and intensity.

Grande risonanza ha incontrato il
concerto proposto venerdì sera
dall'Ensemble «San Felice» di Firenze: ha
impressionato
la grande perfezione delle quattro cantanti nella
costruzione
dell'impasto vocale, in particolare nel canto
gregoriano. Federico
Bardazzi sottolineava il movimento ritmico con linee
dolcemente
ondulate. La sua direzione era molto attenta alla
precisione
episodi
strumentali, spesso alla maniera dei menestrelli. Gli
strumenti
risuonavano in combinazioni sonore sempre nuove e
affascinanti.

The concert on Friday evening by
the Ensemble San Felice
from Florence was a conspicuous success: the
perfection in
the way the four singers blended their voices was
very impressive,
particularly in the Gregorian Chant.
Federico Bardazzi underlined the
rhythmic movement with
pleasantly undulating lines. In his conducting he
paid particular
attention to the details of the rhythms and the
distribution
and shading of the voices.
The meticulousness and discipline
that distinguish the
work of the Ensemble are extremely evident. A touch
of colour
was added by the instrumental parts, often played
like minstrels.
The instruments could be heard in
continuously renewed
and fascinating combinations of sound. The
saltarelli played
between the cantari of Cicerchia were fiery and
virtuosic.
The audience thanked the Ensemble for the charming
evening
by applause that never seemed to end.

perfection in
the tuning of the instruments, in the way the music

extraneous

all, it
was the style of conducting that demonstrated a

Il fatto che la sala fosse gremita

coglie nel segno
...la direzione dei Brandeburghesi è
stata affidata

passed with flying colors, executed as it was with a
scrupulous
reading of the original texts, without any of the
romanticinclinations
that we are so used to, especially from large
ensembles
